DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Launch your career today and join our team of Direct Support Professionals!  Here at The Arc of Cape May County we have increased our starting rate of pay for Direct Support Professionals.  Direct Support Professionals earn $20.50 per hour after completion of all training and submission of the training packet.  Training is at $16.07 per hour.

The Arc of Cape May County is a non-profit agency serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cape May County. We are supportive of their goals and assist with their needs. Our goal is to provide quality assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and to help them to become as independent as possible.

We are seeking full-time Direct Support Professionals to join our team and provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The successful DSP candidates will be responsible for assisting individuals with daily activities, providing emotional support, and helping them to reach their goals. These DSP positions require compassionate individuals who are patient, understanding, and able to work with a diverse population in our home or apartment settings. Direct Support Professionals must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with individuals served. Direct Support Professionals assist with:

  • Meeting individuals’ needs and develop an effective support relationship
  • Providing person-centered supports that recognize the rights of each individual and encourage individuals supported to live the life they choose
  • Assisting with daily personal care tasks, including bathing, toileting, and dressing
  • Collaborating with families and support team to provide the best opportunities
  • Supporting basic housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes, and tidying
  • Helping plan appointments and organize a schedule
  • Assisting individuals with shopping for groceries and preparing meals
  • Assisting with participation in social and recreational activities
  • Ensuring that required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Transporting and accompany individuals on a variety of community activities

Once you join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll have paid training and orientation sessions to gain skills in areas pertaining to developmental disabilities, medication dispensing, CPR/FA, crisis management, behavior support, documentation, and other job-related topics.

The typical shifts for these entry-level full-time positions are either 3pm-11pm or 11pm-9am in our residential programs. These positions are full-time (40 hours per week) and include weekends. Advancement opportunities are also available.
