Cape May County recognized Gerald “Gerry” M. Thornton at the Dec. 9 County Commissioner Meeting for his 39+ years of transformational service.
His leadership helped modernize behavioral health services, expand treatment access, and strengthen vital supports for seniors, veterans, families, youth, and individuals with disabilities—shaping the systems our community relies on today.
Majken Mechling, CEO of The Arc of Cape May County and Chair of the Cape May County Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board, spoke as part of the presentation, highlighting Thornton’s compassion, vision, and unwavering commitment to improving lives.
