Family Support

Helps relieve the stress of providing 24 hour care to people with I/DD. Respite providers give in-home care to children and adults so that parents and other long-term caregivers can take a much-needed break or attend to personal business. Additionally, we offer a Summer Inclusion/Summer Activities Program which provides participants with a one-on-one aide to assist in their community-based recreation programs during the summer months. Although the ideal ages would range from 5 years to 13 years, this program will not exclude older participants. Another component of Family Support is the Saturday Day Program which provides a drop-in opportunity for children ages 5 to 18 with Performcare referrals.

The Family Support program has the greatest direct impact on families who meet all the needs of their loved one while remaining in their own homes. By far, a home is usually the most appropriate place for individuals with I/DD to be as opposed to placement in residential programs operated by service providers.
